Here's some facts for you:

  • COP26 North West explored how the North West region can gain from the net zero agenda; aiming to lead on tackling climate change and power the Green Industrial Revolution.
  • Manchester has already committed to being net zero by 2038 and COP26 NW aimed to expand that commitment across the whole region.
  • The North West has a very detailed, science-based plan to level up the city-region with better transport, homes and jobs for residents; through retrofitting homes and buildings, smart energy and overhauling the public transport system. 

It is believed that these measures will take the region to net zero; improving health outcomes, tackling inequalities, generating good quality and secure jobs with greener businesses to make communities better to live, learn and work in. 


Greener Businesses: How Will Businesses Help To Make The Transition Of Becoming Greener A Reality? 

  • The Charge Project is an exciting initiative from SP Energy Networks, delivered in collaboration with EA Technology, PTV Group and Smarter Grid Solutions, which aims to accelerate the UK’s transition towards electrified transport. The project aims to merge transport and electricity networks to create an overarching map of where EV charge points will be required and where they can be best accommodated by the electricity grid.
  • The Business Growth Hub is hosting a series of sustainability workshops focused on helping businesses to understand what it means to be greener.
  • HyNet North West is an innovative low carbon and hydrogen energy project that aims to unlock a low carbon economy for the North West and North Wales; putting the region at the forefront of the UK’s drive to net zero. The aim is to create Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) technology while having low carbon hydrogen production. 
  • Quadriga City aims to retrofit older city buildings to meet the new zero emissions standards. 
  • Elevate GM is a business development consultancy with a keen focus on sustainability, innovation and community. Elevate connects businesses and individuals with exciting opportunities, to create new partnerships and connections.
